For many clubs, going cardless is a journey. Some of our clubs have reached that destination

Going cardless is a journey for clubs, one that brings many benefits:

  • It reduces the load for administrators. No need to be present at the club until the end of competitions.
  • Digital scores feed directly into SmartGolf Systems making competition finalisation so much easier.
  • Saves on expensive paper scorecards.
  • Is a profoundly eco-friendly switch reducing paper consumption.
  • Removes the required physical storage of last 12 months of cards for attestation.
Myth busting
Myth 1

I have to have my phone switched on when I'm playing my round. I don't want interruptions.

Reality

With SmartGolf Systems, you can switch off your data and record your scores without internet access. Alternatively, one person on the tee line can record the scores for all players.

Myth 2

I'm not sure that Golf Ireland approve of digital scoring.

Reality

Golf Ireland fully endorses the digital attestation of cards as implemented by SmartGolf Systems.

Myth 3

Digital scoring will slow down the pace of play.

Reality

On-course scoring with SmartGolf Systems takes no more time than writing on a physical scorecard. It can speed up the process as one player can handle the on-course scoring for all 3 or 4 players on the tee, for all formats.

Myth 4

There is patchy internet coverage on my club's golf course which would hamper digital scoring.

Reality

On-course scoring in SmartGolf Systems functions fine even in internet blackspots on the course, and equally if you switch off your data until you return to the clubhouse.

Portmarnock Golf Club and Lahinch Golf Club are two clubs that have eliminated the need for physical scorecards through SmartGolf, and each have more than four years of member and visitor experience of on-course digital scoring, with very satisfied players.
